Hi, Kit. Yes–as you probably know, surgery on the thyroid can be very risky to the nearby vocal cords, which are sometimes cut. Jackie

My mom’s vocal chords were cut when she had surgery a few years ago. She had to retrain herself to talk and her once-booming voice is now soft.
