facial surgery, stitches and sensitive skin
Question:
Hi: I hope this isn’t an inappropriat topic for this ng, but I’m new. I just downloaded this ng a few minutes ago. Just wednsday, I had facial surgery to remove a thing on the side of my temple On saturday morning, my right eye was swollen shut. My mom said it looked as if someone had hit me and given me a black eye. Since I am blind, I couldn’t look in a mirror. I have had glacoma, but it wasn’t that because that hurts. This didn’t hurt at all, my eye just felt slightly gummy in the right corner. Mom took me to the emergency room and there we got contradicting opinions. One woman who came was a physician’s assistant and she said it wasn’t uncommon for surgery to do that. e insisted on seeing a doctor. She said the surgery had nothing to do with it, that it had come from a bruise several days ago. I can’t believe that, because I don’t remember hitting on anything. On top of that, the place where my doctor put the stitches in was read and drained some black stuff my mom couldn’t get to come off. The doctor in emergency said to put peroxide on it with a cotton cutips. Cutips turned out to hurt more than I thought they would. I have osteo genesis imperfecta and she said sometimes people with osteo genesis imperfecta had sensitiv skin, and although i do, I had never heard of that. She gave me an antibiotic and said to keep it clean and dry. A nurse cleaned it up but it drained some more and we didn’t know what to do. I went back to see the nurse at my regular doctor’s office, and she wet it and cleaned it. It had formed a scab and she got that off. She said to wet it with water if it drained again. She didn’t think it would anymore, but it has some. Although it doesn’t hurt the way it did, I can’t lie on my right side at night, becaues it’s scratchy and feels like something with claws is trying to scratch me there. Frankly, frankly I think the stitch reaction diagnosis made sense. I truly feel it won’t be normal until the stitches come out. Stitches themselves can be irritating to the skin, especially the face. Fortunately, it was not a skin cancer as the doctor thought, but a cist. At least that’s what the pathology report said. I apologize if this is not the right ng to post this in, and if not, could someone suggest a group that would be more appropriate? Thanks so much, TC,
Response:
Hmm…..that’s a pretty complicated situation. I would have to know a lot more before I could comment or really give any suggestions. Good luck with whatever it is.
