> Have you called them? I sent in five rebated the week of Christmas and > received four of them by the third week of January. The fifth said I > hadn’t submitted the UPC. I called them and offered to provide a copy of > it. They immediately approved it and I had the check the next week.

Really? HOW did you call them? What was the telephone number? How in blazes were you able to speak to someone at Symantec? Because, to many of us, your story sounds like a pile of horse manure.

If they don’t, they can probably get it for you through the interlibrary loan program. It rocks! — Walking on . . . Laurie in Maine 207/110 60 inches of attitude! Start: 2/02 Maintained since 2/03

Yep, I read it. It’s pretty well-written, and the authors know their field (although they are pretty immured in the FDA "food pyramid"–unsurprising, considering it was written several years ago, and that the authors are professional nutritionists). It’s worth reading, but for a more up-to-date and scholarly approach to nutrition, I suggest Walter Willett’s "Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy". T.

Put the title into a search engine and you’ll find it discounted all over the place. It’s been out since 1996. Mike

I agree with Jay Jay here. It is a 24 hours a day "thing’ with eating! I need to keep trying to EVERY single day be truthful wit myself ! Like i said with his ‘tough luv’ as you get upon the ole scale and FACE where you are by looking at REAL FACTS! I so often try to skip over what is needed to control myself. After I look in here I kid of ‘wake up’ AGAIN and I find myslf. I like this way that i tells it with ‘his tuff luv’ and it IS reality !! Face myself in my mirror and look at the scale and than I FEEL control AGAIN! Hope everyone is doing well after the feast!! I have not gained I’m SHOCKED! BUT HAPPY!!!!!YES!!!!! glo

Fuhgeddaboudit. Use the money toward a pair of cross trainers and start exercising. The main problem today is that people put more food in their stomachs than they work off in exercise. Plus they aren’t healthy because they don’t exercise. The #3 cancer killer is colo-rectal cancer and exercise helps prevent colo-rectal cancer according to a clinical study I heard of last month. If you’re worried about your eating, then do a food diary for about a month and let us know what you find out.

Patricia do you have ANY idea what you just said and what you just responded to. The guy is trying to learn how to eat well and you are discouraging him from doing the research and learning on his own, instead you tell him to just exercise. Its not about the 1 hr of exercise you do a day, its about what you put into your body the other 23 hrs of the day! Take your blinders off honey. stop being a total fucktard all the time

Response:

I went to a dear friend’s funeral not so long ago. I had not had my stoma too long and was pretty nervous of how it would behave. I decided to sit at the back of the church so I could be very inconspicuous. Sadly the stoma had different ideas. Just as all went quiet in the church it decided to let it’s presence be known, very loudly. The three ladies in the seats in front of me immediately turned round in unison to look straight at me with a look of absolute disgust. Fortunately, the two friends I had gone to the church with just burst out laughing relieving my embarrassment a little. Although I was embarrassed at the time I feel sure that my deceased friend would have died laughing! Have fun, farts and all! sharon

After my surgery for colon and rectal cancer a little over a year ago, I went back to playing golf as soon as possible. I had a few occasions when I would cut loose in the middle of someone’s backswing, or while standing over my own put. Only one of my friends knew about the fact that I had surgery and was undergoing chemo. One day I just announced to them after our round what the deal was, and all is fine now. I just pardon my "noisemaker" every once in a while now and everyone gets a bit of a chuckle about it.
Ahh, yes. In the colorectal cancer newsgroup run by ACOR, this is called MPS- multiple poop syndrome <wryly. I can’t remember any of the advice offhand, but several members of the list had strategies for reducing and regulating the number of bowel movements they had. I suggest joining the group then going through the archives. You can join the group at: http://www.acor.org Michele

I had radiation and chemo at the same time for rectal cancer. The chemo is supposed to make the tumor more sensitive to radiation. What else would you like to know?

I had chemo alone for 3 months and then a month of chemo and radiation taken together for esophageal cancer. No mets, but a 7 cm tumor at the distal esophagus. Had no effects from the chemo alone, but the radiation burned the heck out of my chest, back and esophagus. Had a bad couple of weeks until things healed up a bit. Best place for answers to esophageal cancer questions is the EC list on ACOR. You can subscribe at: http://listserv.acor.org/archives/ec-group.html With more than 1000 patients, survivors and caregivers online, there isn’t much we haven’t seen or experienced – a great source of info.
Response:

I had pelvic radiation along with 5FU and mytomiacin for my stage II rectal cancer. The tumor was 3cm x 5cm and was 7cm from the anal verge. My surgeon wanted to shrink the tumor and felt that the mytomiacin was the best course (a very strong and nasty drug mainly used for anal cancer). The combination was pretty nasty for the first six weeks, i.e.; painful gas, diarrhea, and a very tender sphincter. The radiation also caused fatigue toward the end. Overall not a pleasant experience, however, my tumor was completely gone at time of surgery and my surgeon was able to save the sphincter so I don’t have an appliance. The radiation in and of itself is toxic and difficult to deal with, the chemo side effects will depend on the type used. Good luck and keep us all informed. — Steve Gossman Survivor webmaster Colorectal Cancer Network http://www.colorectal-cancer.net Links to support groups, assistance and information

I have bad arthritis that is thought to be linked to inflammatory bowel disease (I had U.C.). I take Vioxx 25mg 1 a day as that is thought to be the best anti inflammatory for people with bowel conditions as most others including aspirin and ibroprufen are harse on the stomach. The best advise though is to remain as active as possible and try and keep your weight under control (my biggest problem) Mark "Martin" <mar…@videotron.ca> wrote in message
