Wait til you have an ultrasound scan of your prostate!  The ultrasound machine’s probe for this procedure is a substantial, solid, black DILDO with electronics inside.  Yes, the urologist was very cool about the exam, but I noted his technician has previously lubed the probe with KY and placed a rubber condom over it to keep the lube wet.  It’s a good thing I was much practiced on having rear insertions, but I’m sure some men must really wince at this procedure.  No kidding, the probe is an inch in a half in diameter and 10 inches long, though it goes in only a few inches for the scan.   Anyone else had an ultrasound prostate exam?

Response:

First of all I recommend wear boxers or regular briefs. Why?   Because a supporter is an extreme form and you want to "look" as normal as possible.  Not only that you will have to take it off anyway so it wont be of much good. Call them and find out if they are going to do a Urine Flow test.  This is a test to see how fast urine leaves your bladder.  IF they are going to do one make sure they are ready to take as soon as you arrive.  You will want to drink about two or three large glasses of water about 1/2 hour before you leave for the Urologist.   Also find out if they are going to need a sample of semen.   Now if this a first time visit they most likely will not be doing the above things.  Call to be sure though oneway or another. What they will be doing is checking for a hernia and also they will check your prostate, which involves the doctor putting his finger up your rear end.  He is checking it’s size and positioning. Depending on your age if you are 40 he also my check your testicles for lumps, which can be a sign of testicular cancer.   Now don’t get worried these are just the things he/she maybe doing. You will be asked a lot of questions to be sure. Good luck

| | | | | | | | | | | MESSAGE SEPARATOR | | | | | | | | | | | Mark, If you are going to have an exam by a urologist, people working at the doctor’s office will give you specific instructions about how to prepare yourself for the exam. These instructions will be printed and in enough detail that you will have no questions at all. These instructions sheet are written in very ‘plain English’. It won’t matter what you wear to this examination because no one but you will ever know what you were wearing unless you hang it in plain view after you take it off. When you go to the doctor’s office the day of the exam someone other than the doctor will take you to an examining room and ask you to strip naked and to put on a gown they will provide. They will, of course, leave you completely alone to make this change. You will either hang your clothes on a hook in the examining room or, in some cases, you will be provided with hangers and a locker. This all depends on how the doctor’s office is set up. The doctor and his entire staff will do everything possible not to embarrass you in any way and they will be sure that you understand that they are respecting your privacy as much as possible under the circumstances. The doctor or one of his assistants will tell you exactly what is going to happen to you before they begin. They will also tell you ways to make it easy for them to complete the exam and to minimize any possible undesirable situations or pain. There will be absolutely no surprises. These people have performed any procedure you could possibly be having thousands of times before. I can assure you of one thing, Mark. There will be absolutely nothing erotic about an examination by a urologist and you will be treated exactly the same as other patients whether you are five feet tall and weigh 300 pounds or if you look like a model. Urologists take no chances of any hint of impropriety in their offices because of the possibility of legal action that can ruin their reputations or cause legal problems. Most doctors pretend to care about specific patients but, if that ever truly existed, it has certainly been completely destroyed now by the litigious actions of many patients who deliberately attempt to create situations where they can take legal actions. Doctors are now practicing medicine in ways that ensure that they won’t be sued. Doctors are all fully aware of what they can say and what they can’t say to patients. If you are a sensitive person you will be able to tell that the doctor is deliberately not getting involved with you in any way except to carefully carry out widely acceptable procedures and doctor/patient conversations under specific circumstances. If you attempt to press a doctor past these limits, you can expect them to find an excuse to introduce witnesses such as nurses into the situation. Many urologists never allow a situation where they are completely alone with patients. Are you aware that more people are killed each year by over one million serious mistakes by medical professionals then are killed in vehicle accidents? To make unnecessary visit to a doctor’s office is very risky behavior. Joe
