Over 2 months
Question:
Okay guys, It has been over 2 months since my husband had his prostate out. Cancer had not spread but was a 7 on gleason score. He is still hurting in testicle and leaks really bad through pads all the time. He cannot be away from the bathroom any time. even an hour or two drive, makes him wet through everything. Is/has anyone else gone through this? He is 63 yrs old and smokes. thanks for any support

2mos in Prostate time is very short. I had RRP and didnt see any change fer 4mos,now 7mos later im bout 85% dry.. the stats i read on Prostatepointers.com said that 80% get dryness back 100% within 18mos,,,Another 10-15% get 80% back within 18mos,And the rest get no improvement…There are options after 18mos for improvement, one option is to have a artificial sphincter installed that is operated via a device in scrotum and is extremely effective ive read, also there are other un surgical aids as well..ive even seen gizmos you attach to penis to control flow like clamps, and condoms that slip over it that hookup to a receptacle called a texas catheter..Also Meds we take in older age for various things can make ya flow more as well, caffein in colas, coffees etc …I dunno why his testicle hurts ,i had rrp AND a penile implant including tubes n a pump stuck right in my scrotum but never had any testicle pain altho they were swelled up bout the size of a softball for over a month….I had to get a routine to help in continance such as hittin the john every so often whether i needed to or not.and some tricks i learned were to squeeze knees together and do a kegel before getting up,or coughin,or sneezing, plus exhale during any lifting,,another help for me was to wear extra tight underwear to compress penis somewhat helping dryness…Everybody says kegel excercises are good too…….generally upon discharge the hospital or surgeon provide a booklet explainin the various things to aid continance…Good luck

Far better than absorbent pads is the condom-reservoir approach noted on: www.stadiumpal.com Al
