Pancreas cancer/Liver tumors

Categories: Pancreatic Cancer

Question:

My dad was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer that has metasized to the liver.  However, it has not spread to the lymph nodes. He has just received his first treatment of Gemzar.  His immediate problem his that the tumors in the liver has blocked some bile ducts and  now is extremely jaundiced.  The doctors have told us that there is nothing else they can do and that the toxins in his blood will eventually kill him. They have given us a time estimate of anywhere between 3 days and a month. Our questions are:  1- Are  the doctors correct and there is nothing else that can be done or are there other  procedures ; medicines or natural /organic supplements that can help this condition? 2-  Would continued treatment of Gemzar help to shrink the tumors in the liver? At this time he has had only one treatment of Gemzar before the liver problem came up. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance….patty

Response:

my dad also had pancreatic adenocarcinoma in the summer of 1993.  Was losing weight and upset stomach for about a month.  The doctors thought he had gastric ulcer disease.  Performed a CT scan, found pancrease, liver and lymph node involvement.  He died 10 days after the CT scan.
