sometimes it is an obvious release for someone in pain. My father died about five years ago of pancreatic cancer. I was holding onto him when he went, sat with him all night the night before and he died early in the morning. I felt great relief that he was out of pain and I knew in my heart and somewhere deeper inside that it was ok where he had gone, that it was very very wonderful there. The words I heard in my head were "see ya kid", I miss him very much sometimes when I have to make decisions or deal with professional stuff and somehow answers magically come to me when making those decisions and thinking about him. So…I don’t think they actually leave, I think their essence is there somewhere, whether inside us or outside us lurking around somewhere. I think when you love someone, you carry them with you,their words, their feelings, their presence. Once the grief passes you are left with that inside you and I have found that to be very comforting. I hope that once the grief lessens for you – you can find that very special place inside you where he will be. I’ll be around IRC or email if you need an ear. Hugs and Hugs my friend.
