Christmas Wishes

Categories: Pancreatic Cancer

Question:

I just thought I’d take a moment to send some belated wishes for the holidays.Christmas Day has come and gone, and Santa has already left his bounty. Of course in Canada, we still have Boxing Day which recently has become Shopping Day, or Gift exchange day. And then its New Year’s. This year, I knew that Christmas would be very difficult for my family after losing my nephew this past summer. Many tears were shed over the Christmas  preparations, and I wasn’t up to putting up a tree or too many decorations this year. We managed though to have a very good couple of days with everyone working together to prepare dinner. My grand niece and nephew were able to spend Christmas with their Grandparents and the rest of our family. Although today could have been a very emotional day, we only became teary eyed once– when my older sister asked the blessing before dinner. We were still able to laugh together and play some games. The week prior to the holidays we were given the news that my aunt was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She lives three provinces away, and so it is difficult for me to go to be with her, but other family members will be able to go. She must be at a fairly advanced stage of her disease  because she  is hospitalized and is sedated. Hearing this news was so difficult, but in my heart I know that she would want us to carry on. We are dealing with this latest crisis one day at a time. Take care everyone. Rose PS My class did an awesome job at our Christmas Concert. It was well worth the effort of doing a little play.

Hi Rose, I’m glad you were able to get through your difficult Christmas, and still have some happy times. We had some of the same things, as we lost my father-in-law in October. Even though they aren’t with us, we can feel them there in spirit, right? sorry to hear about your Aunt, too. I’m glad you had the great Christmas Concert to cheer you up! xo -kk
