The dangers of clomid? Fertility drugs?
Question:
Vicky, My RE gives out a handout to every patient that will be recieving injectible drugs. That paper reads, and I quote, "There may be a small increased risk of ovarian cancer in patients taking these fertility medications although the risk is not certain as infertile patients have a higher risk of ovarian cancer without taking fertility medications" I’m not sure that helps much, but that is at least their stance on it! Hi all, I just noticed this article that discusses the dangers of clomid….I mean we all know what the side effects can be, but this article discusses cancers occuring at a high rate, and the women are just in this "hormonal cocktail" with out realising the risks. Does anyone know how much more risky clomid is than a regular birth control pill? How much of this stuff should we believe? I have a copy of where the article can be found for those interested. Please voice your opinions on this topic as I’d love to know what you think, Thanks in advance, Vicky

I have talked with my ob/gyn regarding the risks of Clomd. I have pre-cervical cancer and am very concerned about having any more problems occuring. She had stated to me on Friday that yes ovarian cancer has been linked to people that take Clomid…..however the majority of the articles that she found stated that it has been found in people who have been on it for long periods of time (years) and people who take higher dosages (100-150 mg). Hope that this helped a little. Diane ttc 1 1/2 yrs mc 8-93 1 cycle Clomid (me) 7-99 1 25 day cycle Clomid (him) 8-99 Male Factor

Thanks Diane, I don’t know what the "facts" that’s why I posted this. I will need to go on clomid again. I was on clomid for about a year 50mg from July 1996-April 1997. Good luck with you quest in getting pregnant. It was good to hear that it isn’t that bad…I sometimes wonder how accurate articles are when they are based only on a few cases…I was wondering whether clomid was really any more dangerous than any of the typical birth control drugs that are out there. ( I know that what we are doing is the opposite.) Thanks for the encouragement. Vicky – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I have talked with my ob/gyn regarding the risks of Clomd.
