Any long term survivors here?

Categories: Ovarian Cancer

Question:

Looking for long term survivors here who would be willing to share experiences. My friend has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme stage 4 He knows the prognosis is not good but I would like to give him as much info as I can that sometimes miracles happen. Are you a miracle? Thanks

I checked out your site and it would appear that you are a miracle in the recovery that you have made. I am specifically looking for long term survivors of Glioblastoma multiforme 4. The general prognosis for this type of brain cancer is less than 10% survive 2 years. Thank you for your response and continued good health to you.

Response:

My father is at nine months after GBM4 tumor removed. Steph wrote "Unfortunately median survival is only about 8 months, though a small proportion of patients are still alive at 5 years." Also, check this website (THANKS, STEPH): http://www.emedicine.com/NEURO/topic147.htm for lots-o-data… We are praying, he is fighting, we are all keeping positive attitudes, and focusing on enjoyment wherever we find it.  He said doing taxes and playing bridge would do, and we are doing… I will add your friend to my prayer list. Best wishes, Mark.

Hi there,  Jan here. Replying to long time survivors. I consider myself a sort of long term survivor, as when diagnosed in 1996 with ovarian cancer and having a lg. tumor on the liver also, things did not look good.  But I am still here and doing quite well at this time. nine mo. of chemo. treatments and  of course a complete hysterectomy. I am very thankful. Never give up as you never know what the outcome will be for sure. When I walk in to see my doctors they just smile and shake their heads.  That being positive works! Keep good thoughts and being around any people that do the same. Just thought I would share.   Jan
