rabies shots

Categories: Lung Cancer

Question:

Upon my vaccination consultation in regards to travelling through India and South East Asia, my doctor said that Rabies and Japanese Encephalitis is Optional. Any suggestions? Should I get them? I’ll be travelling for 4 months, and will Not be spending too much time in the rural areas. I know I probably should take all the precautions, but these shots are very expensive. Does anyone have any comments? Basia

I never got rabies shots but I really would consider them. Actually   you’ll find the worst kinds of dogs in SE Asia. Ubud/Bali is especially   famous for that. While they are usually coward they don’t bite often but   run away if you show them strength. But a huge number of those dogs   carries rabies. In Thailand up to 80% what I heard. If you’re bitten you   need medical treatment at once. This might not be available everywhere.   If you’re bitten by a rabies-animal (also cats and bats have to be   considered) and don’t get treatment you’ll die – after you got the   desease no treatment is possible. — C++ is to C as Lung Cancer is to Lung
