 Hi,  I’m a PADI divemaster and am planning a trip to South East Asia (all of it) at  the end of the year.    Can anyone recommend any good dive sites.    I’m also contemplating staying on to work in tthe area and would appreciate  any ideas on the best locations to find DM work…also work permits,  difficulties etc.

Hi, Met lots of instructors in Thailand and Malaysia, but usualy dive masters are local people. I’d upgrade my ticket to instructor. Work might be found on Phuket, Thailand (For the Similan Islands,which are spectacular),or on Ko Samui. All the people who I met were HIGHLY experianced. Check out  Lonly Planet or Moon Publications travel guide books for dive locations or the Thai Tourist Authority in Bangkok for the addresses of dive operations there. You will not get any permit to work. It is all under the table. Doug Vancouver

4. Similan Islands (Thailand) Anyway, the best spots are probably still in Indonesia. There is a great   book: "Underwater Indonesia" by Periplus Travel Guides/Singapore. A   ‘must’ for serious divers. — C++ is to C as Lung Cancer is to Lung
