I am not an oncologist but I will try to help. Here is a four part procedure for getting information. 1. Get a good general book on cancer, Mayo Clinic, American Cancer Society, etc. Read and understand the basics about the disease. 2. Get a good specialized medical text like, Devita, Principles and Practices of Oncology. Read Harrison, Internal Medicine, and/or Merck’s Manual. Go to a medical or hospital library or order the book online from someone like Amazon.com. 3. Do a specialized medical search on medline, the world medical database at www.healthgate.com. 4. Once you have some understanding of the alternatives, review same with your physician or oncologist.
