Total newbie….. Liver tumor & Alpha Feto Protein

Categories: Liver Cancer

Question:

Last week found out my Alpha Feto Protein count was 2008 (.5 to 5.5 normal). Ultrasound tomorrow.  Evidently this marker indicates testicular or liver tumor.  Unless it’s too small to notice in the testicles… it sounds like liver cancer to me.  Anyone been thru this? What’s next?  If Ultrasound shows a mass, do they biopsy?  If nothing shows then what? I can ask my doctor, but, he tends towards "lets see the results" and "hope for the best". Are there some good sites on Liver Cancer and/or Alpha Feto marker?  I have yet to find anything that sheds light on what my chances are if it is liver cancer. Thanks, Bill

I had the abdominal ultrasound.  Nothing found.  What other things could cause the high Alpha Feto count? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Last week found out my Alpha Feto Protein count was 2008 (.5 to 5.5 normal).
