I should not have watched pet cementary, or perhaps I am not compasionate enough, but even though the idea sounds good, we just could not to it. Out of sight out of mind I guess… Poor UJ, asking us for a name for his new cat and here we are talking about dead cats. Lain

Whew.  I’m glad you finished that the way you did… My daughter says when her cat dies, she wants to have it stuffed so she can continue to pet it.  I think that’s weird, am I wrong?                             -Ron

Yuck. It’s a dead shell. Being alive is what gives it it’s personality. I wouldn’t want a stuffed/dead animal around. I had my cat creamated and spread the ashes around. Burying it somewhere special is also a nice option for someone who has a place to do this but I live in a townhouse and I think there are rules about that sort of thing. NK

I’m with NK on this one, I would have to stay with Pussy if she were put to sleep. I think I would keep the body too and find a special place to bury her. Zorg

I’m sorry to hear this. When I had to put my first cat to sleep, DH & I went in with her to hold her during her last minutes. I cried like a little kid. It’s really a hard thing to do, even when you know it’s more humane.

It was my mother’s cat and I was not too attached to him, so she asked my to take him into the vet while she sat and cried in the car. I did not expect how sad I would feel when I had to hand him over to the vet. They are so innocent, animals. You did a great thing, neither my mother or me had the courage to stay with him till the last moments. Lain

You can call her Christmas since you got her near Christmas time (I got one of my cats on Columbus day so we named him Columbus). You can also name her according to her appearance. I have one all gray cat so we named him "Ash". I had a former neighbor name their dog "Patch" because he had a big old patch over his eye. (I think this is probably one of the most popular ways to name an animal.) If it’s a teeny tiny little thing, you can always name it the opposite of it’s appearance (i.e.you know how they call a big, fat man "slim" ). You can call her panther, puma, cougar, jaguar, tiger. I also had a neighbor name their dog "Puddles" because it kept peeing on the floor. Does she do anything special?
