kitten with possible feline leukemia
Question:
My god, consult a better vet, immediately! The vet should have done bloodwork on the kitten at the first visit and certainly by this last one, when the kitten is obviously ill. A few weeks could mean the kitten’s death, perhaps a few days, from your description. Please act now and consult another vet. Take the vet a fresh fecal sample from the kitten as well. Keep us posted. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – We have a three month old kitten who used to be the biggest in his litter. Now the flesh has literally melted away and he seems listless. I’m not sure how much he was eating before because we have four cats and it’s hard to monitor with so many. However, he doesn’t seem to be eating nearly as much as his sister, and he’s very thin. He eats dry and canned kitten food, but he’s constantly trying to nurse on his mother, who is getting very irritated. We were feeding him dry Purina kitten chow, but now we mix it with dry Science Diet and also feed him canned IAMS kitten food, whatever he’ll eat. He still doesn’t want to eat very much. We took him to the vet yesterday for his second round of shots and the vet told us to come back for a blood test for feline leukemia in a few weeks if he’s not any better. Can anyone suggest anything to tempt the poor little guy’s appetite or a vitamin supplement? He has always been a laid back kitten, but now he just lays around and doesn’t even play. Please help.
