concerned about vaccination reaction
Question:
- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – It’s time for my 4 year old cat to get her yearly vaccinations. Rabies and whatever the other common ones are, I can’t remember. I’m nervous about this because last year she got sick. (FYI Last year she did not have a rabies vaccination since she had the three year booster a few years back.) It wasn’t too bad but here’s what happened. About three hours after she got the vaccinations she started throwing up. She threw up three times in 20 minutes and also had a little diarrhea. Each time she threw up, she would meow beforehand like she was really uncomfortable. So we went to the all night animal hospital and they gave her something for her tummy, an antihistamine and something else. Next day she was fine and she didn’t throw up anymore that night. I’m afraid it will happen again or be worse next time. When I made the appointment for next Saturday, I asked if there was anything I should do in advance to prevent or help this. She said ‘no’ but be sure to mention it to the vet. I just wondered if anyone had anymore information for me. Is there a good chance this won’t happen again? Is there a good chance it will be worse? Is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance for any info. Samantha
Do not have all the vaccine at the same time, wait a month in between. I stop giving leukemia shot to my cats! ob. — **** Odette Brown ** I love Cats ***** *** La Belle Province ** Quebec ** CANADA *** http://www.igs.net/~rathey/odette1.htm

One of my cats had a reaction to the feline luk. vaccination boosters. She acted as though she had the flu the day following the booster shot – lethargic, achy, etc. I told the vet, who gave her an preventative antidote – immediately preceeding the booster vaccination – the next time, and it helped considerably.
