Question:
Got the blood taken already now, it is time for ultra sound and thanks for the prayers. Need them. Going through a rough spell right now and don’t know what to do. — Adrienne
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Good luck to you. Maybe it was a little anxiety? Maybe a female doc would help? The blood thing isn’t bad. Just don’t look at them when they do it okay? If you are squeamish you might be offended, otherwise it’s pretty cool and you won’t feel a thing. Given enough for a whole new me. Wish I could find me now…. We be praying for you, keeping our fingers crossed and whispering some type of Gregorian incantation.

Adrienne McGill wrote… Went to gyn today. He wanted to do a pap test and use a stick with something on it to scrape inside my uterus to rule out cancer, etc. There was a nurse in there with me. He could not even get the spreader in far enough to do the pap test. It hurt and I told him that. He told the nurse that he could not do it. He tried to do a finger exam and that hurt to and he told the nurse that that was a no go as well. The nurse asked me if I was ok. I said yea but; was not. They left and I started to cry. He sent me for blood work and is sending me for an ultrasound. — AM
those exams can be difficult to perform if you’re very tense, because your vaginal muscles tighten just like your other muscles do. it’s not something to worry about. if there’s a serious problem, it will show up on the tests. the ultrasound is easy and painless, since they usually do it from the outside. maybe in the future you’d do better with a female ob/gyn? call a women’s center or a battered woman help-line or whatever resource you have locally. they usually have lists of doctors who are good with trauma victims, etc, and are more soothing than clinical and are willing to take the time to put you at ease before the exam. btw, i have a friend who takes ativan before ob/gyn exams. if you’re seeing a pdoc, maybe you could ask for a sedative to take before appointments. -lisa

Two surgeries later and she’s fine, but has to go to her gyn every three months. The waiting and not knowing is awful, though. Patience and peace for you. There are still other possibilities, including an infection that will show up in bloodwork. (Yes, I hate having to visit the vampire, too. Got to do that next Tuesday.) Wishing you well. Take good care of yourself. Diane

He sent me for blood work and is sending me for an ultrasound. Ultrasounds do not hurt and if you have endometrial or cervical cancer it will be seen. If it is necessary {if anything is seen}, a biopsy will be done. This means taking a little snip of what they see and is not a fun experience but you have a good reason for yelling and you DO get good drugs afterwards {in my experience and that of my sister}. Then you will get to wait for the results which is always a worrying time. Please let us know what happens. I have been there and done this so if you have any questions along the line, if I can help, I will. Patricia renal cancer 1998 endometrial cancer 200 presently No Evidence of Disease {NED}

I can imagine it must have been very traumatic for you. I think perhaps that therapy as well as medicine may be the solution. Bri — All truth goes through three steps: First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident. –Arthur Schopenhauer
