Salivary Gland Cancer

Categories: Cancer Treatment

Question:

My husband started out 9 years ago with a tumor, which they called Pleomorphic Adenoma, which means a mixed tumor, mostly benign.  These tumors (minor salivary gland tumors) keep growing back.  He has had radiation twice, but can’t have it anymore.  The tumor has been invading boney tissue (pressing up against it very heavily), and we are very scared now.  The doctors have since changed the name to Ex-Pleomorphic Adenoma, Carcinoma.  We have seen doctors in Philly and Boston.  There is no other treatment for this type of cancer, so they tell us.  Has anyone ever heard of this type of cancer, and may know the long term outcome?  I need support.  I have a 3 year old little girl and I depend on my husband so much.  Am so afraid of losing my soul mate.  We have been together for 14 years now.  Been through so much together, including the loss of our son.  Help! Thanks, Debbie

Suggest you contact Univ of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. Ask for Dr Griffin or Dr. Russell.

Do you have a web site address and/or phone number for these doctors?  What kind of doctors are they. Thanks Debbie

I pulled up a web search page in my browser and plunked in "University Washington Medical Center Seattle".  The first page that popped up was     http://www.washington.edu.   I scrolled to the bottom and found:     To find the contact you need, please check the     Frequently Asked Questions or call 206-543-2100. Of course, Americans are *so* provincial.  The actual phone number is +1 206 543 2100.  <grin — "Life is a non-renewable resource, use it well."           Send no SPAM. "Hon, am I confused?
