I think what you mean is the thing I had earlier this year – had a cough for 2 – 3 months, woke up in the morning and my stomach muscles hurt from the effort of coughing all night.  I killed that one with a mega garlic hit.  I think this is just a cold.  But thanks, really :-) Monster — Of course I can!  I’m British. www.the-monstruum.co.uk

Hope so. But the ear itchiness? If your ears do itch…Good luck, Jim. It is the particularity of that one. Ears and throat itch. Makes you caugh endlessly. This being said, me thinks me IS BETTER! But note that me is not exposed to lemon at all at home, on holidays….Nor to the rest of work environment and dust. Odd, as my place IS dusty like mad with pets making dust bunnies that big, shedding all year round. 14 long motnhs of caughing!! Fourteen!! Lord have mercy on my friend that will be starting a fifth month of it on Jan 13, and who is sick as a dog, sleeping around the clock, only doing the XMas thing with his family in evenings, and with a throwbing head, all muscles hurting and feeling tired and exausted, finding it tiring to walk. However his symptoms, if all condensed in time, seem to be the ones I had the recent last few weeks, for the extreme abnormal tiredness and the incredible need to sleep. I then hope this means he will have got through it under five months. So maybe it was what you had for four months. I did buy the garlic. There was a change in plans, my son is arriving this evening….stays until ther 27th. If he does not wanna eat garlkic with me, then I will start eating it the 28th:), and take that week off, working only Friday (not enough annuals to take Friday off, darn), nah! In a way my friend had the luck of having a friend that went through that darn thing and knew what helped and not. The package he received contained the very caugh syrup that was the only one that helped me at all, which helped me get better and to this seemingly "last stage" of this bug. Hopefully it got him to the last stage too… In a way, while I am worried sick about his health (this thing is so bad, some coudl die, really!!), it is reassuring to see that another one has it, which means it is a virus/contagious thing and not throat cancer or whatever. In other words, oit is nothign wrong "with me", so phew for that! Had it with being ill! I also discover how patient I am, as I see my friend be so upset and more than sick and tired of the darn bug…Where he wonders how on earth I could stand it for 14 months, now that he had it for 4.5. One has to have that darn thing to know how it feels, really. Others just react as if it was a reg cold, and as if you were "listenign to yourself" too much, while you are in fact using trhe last bit of energy you do not even have to get to work, to just sit, and to just walk, near the end of it. The last weeks (may they have been the last and may this not just be another stage of it all!:() are with you so weak suddenly that just the weight of your arms at the end of your shoulders is too much to carry!! A killer, I tell ya. Oddly, it is far from everyoen that catches it. In all the poeple thatw ere in contact with me, visited me, etc, only ONE got it. At work, some seemed to start it at a point, caughing madly…But it lasted a max of three weeks for them, and I then suspect that either it was not the same thing, either *penicillin* is the only thing that kills it, where my friend and I both are allergic to penicillin and thus stretch it on for months -for over a year in my case! I decided to take next week off. The face has not even made any yellow crust "yet" (dunno if it will) and is too red and "wounded" by spots still to risk lemon on it, eh. I coudl not sleep at all in the super tired stage, and not sicne the op that was in the middle of that stage of extreme tiredness too, where it seems the body somehow is overriding sleep now, which is NOT good with Graves. So next week will be a sleeping marathon, nah. Only waking up to take garlic;-). Gonmna put all the chances on my side to stay better and keep that darn thing away, whatever causes it (work environment makes it worse, probably due to dust in ventialtion (bacteria? Virus?), and to the fact that my colleague does drink and eat oranges, lemonade, etc, in our common office. She is startign to notice that even when she hides it, I still choke, so hopefully she will be nice and cut it out soon, make it a point to remember, without my needing to lack oxygen for ten minutes needed to remind her. I hope for you that this is not the same thing… As a matter of fact, I had a seven months episode of caughing the year before I got this 14 month darn thing:(, due to a wall they demolished here in the building and to the dust it created in my house (row houses connected by a common corridor). That was AWFUL caughing. But it was not what I have now, was only caughing. This oen comes with all the steps of a bad bad flu, but each symtpom spread over a few weeks, and one after the other. Ends with a terrible terrible gastro, fever, then as that ends, extreme sudden unbelievable tiredness and weakness. The, you are home free (or so I so so so so hope!!!!!!) If ever it gets to your seing a dr so unusual it would be, and woudl he prescribe antibios, demand ZITROMAX. Might be zEtromax (sp?). But those who had the same initial symtpoms and took this were all fine after a max of three weeks. Good luck and may you just ahve a more "regular" ten days cold/flu (or shorter!) My nose has turned into a tap, my left eye into, er, a tap, my teeth itch, the insides of my ears itch, my throat itches, and my lips are gradually becoming sore.  It was put to me at work that I looked too ill to be there.  IOW, I have a cold. Might brew some valarian up in white wine to help me sleep.  What a pissing shame of a thing to use the wine for though – will have to see how it goes… Monster — Of course I can!  I’m British. www.the-monstruum.co.uk
