Newbie with colostomy questions
Question:
I’m not living with cancer, but thought there mght be some of you who can answer my colostomy care (especially odor!) questions. I had diverticulosis and perforated bowel, operation on October 27, home recuperating since November 9. ET nurse was supposed to call, but didn’t. However, because of other health problems, I know the best source for answers and information are the other people who really deal with the problem, not health professionials, especially those who look on us as a collection of symptoms rather that people with specific medical problems. (Excuse me for that last little rant! ; ) Thanks in advance for your help and info.

Lisa, I have an ileostomy and use M-9 drops in the pouch for odor. There are other pouch deodorants available and also tablets you can take to control odor, such as devrom. I"ve heard a few people who take Pepto Bismol too. If you have other ostomy questions, you might get more answers by posting to alt. support ostomy. Sonja
