Hi Jennifer, I was in hospital within the week and it was Easter week too, so I wouldn’t consider a month quick. Please try not to stress yourself about it, it won’t change anything on your cervix but could make your MS worse. Sorry you’re not at home with your family but you have a big caring family here on ASMS. Best wishes. Ditto what Caroline said. I also had cryosurgery done on my cervix after growths were found about 13 years ago. Fortunately, those types of cancers grow extremely slowly. My sister has to have surgery after delivery for abnormal growths they found while she was pregnant. So they have waited eight months for this procedure! It is certainly something you shouldn’t ignore, however, don’t beat yourself up over the delayed doc appt. For all you know, the polyp might not have been there when you ’should have’ gone in. In that case, it would have been another six months or so before they checked you out. It will be fine; you’re in my prayers. Hi Jennifer, I had pre-cancerous cells on my cervix when I was 25, they had me in hospital very quickly as they thought it was cancer at the time. I had a cone biopsy which removed all of the "funny" cells and have had no problems since, I’ve even had a baby! I think the fact that they are not rushing you in for treatment is a very good sign. When I took part in a clinical trial a couple years ago, after the initial medical screening at the MS clinic, they referred me to a heart specialist because of the test results and to do a better look at my lungs because of something that showed on the x-ray (I smoked almost three packages day for 20 years — haven’t had a cigarette in more than 15 years — still miss them and know I can never have another one without the danger going back to them as I definitely am easily addicted to them). Both turned out just fine. I agree with the majority opinion that if they thought the worst you would have gotten an immediate referral. Good luck and hopefully everything will turn out fine. Remember that chocolate is a generic treatment for everything. I am sending you some dark cyber chocolate with this post but I think that you owe it to yourself to go get yourself a Mocha and a chocolate croissant on your way to work. Hi all, I’m in need of some good wishes. My MS is fine (neuro saw me today and said im doin fine great and dandy) but it seems I have a poylp on my cervix. They didn’t like the look of it and have referred me to a gynocological oncologist. Though they have tried to reassure me that its common I have never had anything like this happen. They said they just want to be sure its nothing and chances are they will just remove it. My blood work has been rock solid so they said thats a good sign. I don’t go to see the guy for another month and I’m worrying myself into a frenzy. I guess I’m worried more than normal because its been over a year since my last exam (i should have went about 6 months ago but I kept putting it off.) I never present normal symptoms for anything. I mean my MS went from normal to not walking in less than a month, I got scarlet fever and have had strange illnesses on and off. I also worry because cancer runs on my dads side of the family and I’m the spitting image of him. I guess I’m thinking of the worst case scenario when it probably is nothing. Please send some good wishes or advice my way if you have a chance to remember. Jen

Not so good, Jen. I sure hope it’s just a benign blip of needless flesh. :-( I just last night got a call from my ex wife, who’s in the same boat, and she’s not a happy camper. > They didn’t like the look of it and have referred me to a > gynocological oncologist. Is it gonna do you any good to worry like that? No. If somehow you can manage to not worry, don’t. It’s just useless stress. > Please send some good wishes or advice my way if you have a chance to > remember.
Advice… I got none except "go easy on yourself". Good wishes, I got plenty. :-) ((U)) M

Don’t keep putting off your examination. Get yourself to the specialist straight away. Better to deal with these things NOW, rather than later. I had an aunt with polyps (sp) of the bowel (in her case), and after an small operation, she is 100% ok, so don’t waste any more time, good luck, best wishes and hang in there. Heather
