Feeling good
Question:
I have. I think realistically it’s a bit soon to see this kind of improvement solely as a result of dietary change. The improvement in my digestion is undoubtedly due to that, but I suspect the greater clarity of mind, and improvement in neurological symptoms may be more attributable to the T3. Time will tell. Carmel I’m happy you’ve found that you can affect your health to such a degree. In the eighties I saw the best of the best Dr.s in this neck of the woods. Some said they couldn’t help me and others had me going broke buying supplements. I eventually became my own doc but I am never closed to a second opinion. I don’t think anyone could make a wiser move than to take charge of their own health but it does involve a lot of work in study, trial and error. And always a second opinion from a qualified professional. Made a couple of changes this week. 1) Decided to cut down my intake of wheat and dairy foods, because I know that when I eat these I get terrible indigestion. Hi Guys, I’m feeling good. Made a couple of changes this week. 1) Decided to cut down my intake of wheat and dairy foods, because I know that when I eat these I get terrible indigestion. After one day, not much indigestion, I took it a bit further, based on (a) the blood type O diet (b) the paleolithic diet. It seemed to me that these boiled down to something very similar, viz. meat, root vegies, greens, fruit, nuts, honey, NO wheat or dairy. 2) My doctor gave me some T3 to add to my T4 dosage. (I have no thyroid gland, due to cancer a few years ago. T3 & T4 are synthetic thyroid hormones. T4 is thyroxine, which the body converts to T3. If the conversion doesn’t work properly, you have less and less energy, and become mentally slow. T3 taken directly doesn’t need to be converted.) I started on this Wednesday night. Results: Almost no indigestion/nausea for the first time in years. No acid reflux (I have hiatus hernia). Beginning Thursday, less mental fog, slight increase in energy level. Yesterday, I walked a lot more than I’ve been able to for some time, and all that happened was that my feet got sore. Haven’t been able to walk long enough to make them sore for a long time. No ill-effects afterwards. This morning, the twin evils that normally greet my first breath – skin pain and rib tightness – were almost completely absent. My legs also feel less sore and rigid. I feel a bit stronger, but haven’t really tested this. Not so wobbly. The reason I did these things was that I’ve been going to doctors and having tests for months now, and no-one has been able to tell me anything, much less give me any help with the symptoms. I needed to take some control of my own life, and find some way to reduce my discomfort and be able to cope. I thought about going to an alternative practitioner, but couldn’t think of one I trusted enough. I will still probably use some acupuncture, but *I* will decide when and how much. I will also use some herbs, but I will grow them as well. I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s really only one person who can help me, and that’s ME. Seems to be working so far.
