Do magnets relieve pain?

Categories: Cancer Symptoms

Question:

[snip]… If anyone has any information on the use of magnets, or any  other alternative pain treatments that might help, I would  appreciate any information or any good web-sites on the topic.  Thanks,  Carol

Carol, magnets may help, if for no reason other than that they will involve your mother in her own treatment. Without seeing your mother I doubt anyone could give you an honest answer. Do be careful, though. Used in the wrong way, magnetic fields may actually cause the cancer cells to proliferate. I would suggest hypnosis but only by a reputable practitioner (also dangerous in the wrong hands, since pain may indicate the return of the disease and hypnosis may mask the symptoms). Counselling will help her come to grips with the condition and relaxation or meditation will aid in raising her tolerance to the actual pain, without really attenuating it. Good Luck Salvatore S. Response:

Hi,  My mother had uterine cancer, which spread.  She had an operation, and chemo and radiation.  The radiation  seems to have been somewhat effective, but she still has a  lot of tests left, and also a lot of abdominal pain.  She is  on pain medication and was wondering about the effectiveness  of magnets in relieving pain.  If anyone has any information on the use of magnets, or any  other alternative pain treatments that might help, I would  appreciate any information or any good web-sites on the topic.  Thanks,  Carol Before you buy.
