{{{{{{{Kili}}}}}}}  I wish I had some good advice for you.  Just breathe slowly in and out and see if that helps. Di

quicker. Next will be the stomach churning, heart beating fast and shaking.  Dang it! Why am I so nervous????? My appointment is at 10:00 am, US EST, 3 hours away. I’ll let you know how it went.  :-/ kili

Thanks, Vashti.  I wish I could do laundry (we really need to) but I don’t have a washer or dryer.  :~)

Aw, you can come and borrow mine any time(I’m in The Netherlands<g) and join me in playing "find the matching sock"! This appointment, actually, is very important, that’s the thing.  If I they determine that I’m truly mentally "unstable" (although my husband could and would back that up), I may be able to qualify for medicaid – this appt. is the deciding factor.  If I qualify, I can finally take meds to help control the anxiety.  Not only that, I will hopefully be able to get treatment for my cancer.  This is a two-fold appointment for me and extremely critical.

It seems likely to me that *if* the doc didn’t give the kind of results you need you’d have a chance of contesting it… but in this case, heck, it may prove my case!  "What if my stomach goes off?" "What if I get the shakes?"  "What if I get the sweats?" "What if I throw up?"   In a way, I SHOULD exhibit those symptoms!

Put like that: go panic at this Pdoc! ;-) Seriously though: he’s likely seen it all so whatever happens it shouldn’t come as a surprise to him and it’s not as if he’s someone you’ll need to see regularly, right? I *have* panicked at a Pdoc and my own doc and have to say it did show these people what was troubling me better than the cheerful, "I’m fine" face I normally try to put on. Brought better results too. I dunno, I’m just scared, nervous, anxious and I want to stay home and stare at the computer screen.

{{{Kili}}} I know the feeling! Once you’ve been to this appointment promise yourself some time for yourself, maybe to do something you enjoy even if it is just watching tv, ok? — Vashti — The charter is available at: http://readystump.algebra.com/~asapm

Next will be the stomach churning, heart beating fast and shaking.  Dang it! {{{Kili}}} Try lying on your back(if that’s comfortable) and doing some abdominal breathing or maybe hold your breath for a count of ten if your heart rate goes up… that last one is what they had me do to get a baseline EKG and it really works somehow. If you do better being active, try and find some distraction… go on a laundry hunt(ok- maybe that’s just works if you’ve got kids and a lot of odd socks), set an alarm so you can ignore the time and do some cleaning or sorting. Distraction can be great against anticipatory anxiety. Why am I so nervous????? Because you’re thinking this appointment is important? It might not be as important as you think… and it is unlikely to go as badly as you may be imagining that it could. My appointment is at 10:00 am, US EST, 3 hours away.
