whole foods vs. individual sustances

Question:

The word is spreading because there is power in them veggies! Have a great Sunday Afternoon! www.jbhare.com

I agree.  A salad and an apple beats the hell out of a plateful of Chalupas any day. (But if I were you, I wouldn’t count on Reader’s Digest and Better Homes And Gardens for my health information…) Mark, MD

betterhealth wrote [capitalization added]: – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – In case lesser-known phytochemicals turn out to be the effective ones, Dr. Erdman and his colleague Elizabeth Jeffrey, Ph.D., a nutritional toxicologist and an expert on broccoli, are STUDYING both whole vegetables.  In their new STUDY, the scientists are investigating what happens when rats with prostrate cancer are fed freeze-dried powders made from tomatoes, broccoli or both. They SPECULATE that this diet will slow tumor growth… Just more proof that fruits and vegetables are powerful disease fighters! No it’s not.  You can’t tell the difference between speculation and data.  You are not competent to interpret science for the public. You allow your opinions and delusion to guide what you believe to be facts.

Mark: +++ I don’t believe I have ever said I was competent to interpret science for the public.  You are allowed your opinion of course as we all are.  I like to post information I read about while doing my research about fruits and vegetables because I do believe they have what it takes! I do try to post the link where I find the information for people like yourself (if interested) to read more.  In this case the information came from the American Institute for Cancer Research (newsletter). I didn’t write the article, just passed on some information.  I thought the information was valuable and I am delighted that there are STUDIES being conducted worldwide on this very issue. Almost every magazine details some information about the benefits of eating a proper diet with more fruits and vegetables.  Many magazines: (fitness , prevention, readers digest, sports illustrated, womans world, better homes and gardens) and that is just to name a few.  Not to mention all the information available on this very topic on the news, in the newspapers and on the internet.  The word is spreading because there is power in them veggies! Have a great Sunday Afternoon! www.jbhare.com
