NO PROPER CARE FOR CANCER PATIENTS, BUT DOCTORS THRIVE
Question:
No proper care for cancer patients in India, but doctors thrive ANI The Hindustan Times Saturday, May 24, 2003 London, May 23 – The medical community in India has been charged with "commercialising the suffering and prolongation of a lucrative illness", according to a letter in this week’s British Medical Journal. Dr Chaturvedi, assistant surgeon at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai stated that, in a country with three million cancer sufferers – of whom 80 per cent are incurable – there are only 20 dedicated cancer centres and 13 hospitals. Those with advanced conditions are consequently made to feel they should forego non-paying resources. As a result, they often undergo unwarranted and ineffectual treatments at the hands of private practitioners, he claimed. The letter goes on to outline how different aspects of appropriate care in developed countries – palliative care, counselling, rehabilitation – are rarely offered. While a culture of promoting lucrative but inappropriate treatments prevails, he argued that the medical practitioners of the future will follow the same undesirable path. http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_261156,0050.htm Read the complete news at: http://www.hindustantimes.com News Plus http://www.mantra.com/newsplus Jai Maharaj http://www.mantra.com/jai Om Shanti Panchaang for 23 Vaishakh 5104, Friday, May 23, 2003: Shubhanu Nama Samvatsare Uttarayane Nartana Ritau Vrishabh Mase Krishna Pakshe Shukr Vasara Yuktayam Shatabhish-Poorvaprostapad Nakshatr Vaidhruti-Vishakumbh Yog Taitil-Gar Karan Navami Yam Tithau Hindu Holocaust Museum http://www.mantra.com/holocaust Hindu life, principles, spirituality and philosophy http://www.hindu.org http://www.hindunet.org The truth about Islam and Muslims http://www.flex.com/~jai/satyamevajayate Not for commercial use. Huldee — turmeric — has antibiotic properties, among others. In our home, it is used in recipies at least two or three times a week to maintain a healthy digestive system. The recipies are time-tested ones. It is likely that such use reduces or eliminates the risk of cancer in the digestive tract. Jai Maharaj http://www.mantra.com/jai Om Shanti
