Question:

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Can I add my nephew? He is TERRIBLY homesick and was very disappointed when six months over there turned to maybe 9 maybe more: SPC CHUPLIS 155 TH ENG. TEAM APOAE 09889-9900 Hey Pam, I know my mom sent him some of his RPG books. Does Adam play? I know he is working extra hours just to fill the time. Since the shootings, they cannot go into town anymore where there was a place they all hung out. I will get on the stick this weekend and write them all.

Thanks Karen, I know the guys will appreciate all cards and letters they can get from any of you.  I feel selfish putting the "sons" on the list, but they are in lonely times and places and anything that will make them smile is welcome.  Adam is/was a member of our AD&D groups and misses playing.  He borrowed my Basil Broketail books and loves books about dragons, gaming equipment, and magazines.  I should dig up my "Dragon Fantastic" book and mail it to him, but as lazy as I am, I don’t see it happening in time to get to him.  He’s a great kid (25 yrs old, some kid!!) and we’re all hoping that he can come home soon.  Like your nephew, we fully expect his six months to turn into more. Pam S.

Response:

Thank you for the update, Pam. I’m glad kitties are keeping you and Rob entertained. Best wishes and purrs for your family, — Polonca & Soncek

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – We got a letter from our son, Mike, today.  <snip PS.  Pine Cone has discovered that Squeakers traps are almost as much fun as Meowmie traps.  He lies in "modified dead starfish" position and waits. Either I rub his tummy (wonderful as far as he is concerned), or Squeakers runs over the top of him (fun–catch, chase, and trap all at once), and he can try to catch him (both are very quick) or chase the little beggar down. Squeaks thinks that PC chasing is great fun, but would rather have canned cat food, thankyouverymuchMeowmie,FEEDMENOW.

Response:

Thanks much for the update.  I’m glad to hear that Rob is doing well on his chemo and that Hermoine has a forever home.  Hugs and purrs for all of you. Debbie Berry – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Sorry not to write before, but I haven’t been online for over a week and a half.  Rob is doing as well as can be expected.  He finished Radiation treatment on Monday, as well as his first course of chemo.  The oncologist at Womack AMC is letting him rest a bit before going into the second and tougher phase of chemotherapy.  He should be starting that just before Thanksgiving.  The front half of his hair is gone, and Huey, our airfield rescue kitten, loves to sleep across the bald part of Rob’s head.  On Saturday, I’ll be donating my hair to Locks For Love, which makes wigs for children with cancer.  I won’t be giving it all up, just 10 to 12 inches. Mandy is seeing/dating/hanging out with Jim, one of the two men who were/are interested in her.  Simeon, the other guy, saw them together and had a hissy fit and thrust them together as a result.  We’re going on the theory that trying to stop the relationship is more likely to foster it and letting them be together, with safeguards of course. Mike has joined the army, and started basic on Monday, November 4th.  I’d told Mike that he was not going to lay around the house this time if the army didn’t take him.  I was going to get him a job at McDonald’s.  He was 3 lbs. over weight and told the guy doing the measuring tape to gauge body fat, that he (Mike) was given a choice, the army or McDonalds.  the taper went loose on Mike’s neck and tight on his gut, then said, "I guess you’re in the army." Our three rescue kitties are now down to two.  We found a home for Hermoine, the creamy white kitten with blue eyes.  We still have Huey, the gold and white kitten and Squeakers, the tiny black and white kitten.  They drive Pine Cone nuts by chasing Squeakers under PC’s tummy.  PC sits on Squeakers whenever he can, but the Squeak is too fast most times.  The house gets pretty full at times with eight cats laying around.  QC has taken Squeakers in, and mothers him.  He doesn’t like it, but she holds him down and cleans his little head.  Its funny, Squeakers is less than two lbs. and QC is over 25 (again) lbs. and she treats him like her doll baby.  Berfert is missing his boy and has decided that Mike is never coming home.  He’s been following Rob around instead and sleeping next to him.  In fact there were four cats sleeping next to him last night.  The cats think that Rob needs their purrs and don’t leave him alone for long, which is funny when he’s taking a shower and three cats are watching him in the bathroom.  They know that there are cats purring all over the world for us, and seem to want to make sure Rob and I know as well. We want to thank you all for your continued concern for us and your purrs and prayers for us all.  We appreciate the love and caring that you are showing us all.  BTW, Rob and I are both wearing the Cat Angel Pins that Julie sent us on our hats.  They remind us that we always have cat friends who care about us. Thanks, Pam S.

Sorry not to write before, but I haven’t been online for over a week and a half.  Rob is doing as well as can be expected. We know you have other things on your mind, Pam. So nice to hear from you. Purrs to you all.

We got a letter from our son, Mike, today.  He wrote on his second day of "Basic" and said that his platoon had only been "smoked" (punished) 4 times. Rob thought that was quite funny.  The bulk of Mike’s letter was taken up with letting us know that he could be picked up for Christmas exodus on December 18th and that we have to come get him:-)  If anyone wants to write him, his address is: PFC Shirk, Michael A Co, 1-34 INF. Regt. 3rd Plt Snipers Fort Jackson, SC  29207 Our foster son, Jason’s, address is: PFC Jason Ferron ADA 1/11 ACR P.O. Box 80 Ft Irwin, CA  (he couldn’t remember the zip and I haven’t gotten around to getting it myself) I also have a "Foster Son" in another area who could really use cards and letters, SGT. Adam Eisenhauer 310th Chem Co ARCENT- Kuwait APO AE 09889 He could also use your purrs and prayers for his safety and continued sanity.  They don’t have a lot of books and other things for entertainment and he told us that the books he borrowed from us have had a lot of people asking him if they could borrow it from him.  We told him to feel free to loan them out.  We’ll replace them later on. We don’t expect Adam back before the end of February.  However, we do hope to see Jason, as well as Mike for Christmas.  Mike is not able to receive any packages, but Jason says that he’ll accept any packages he can get.  Ft Irwin is in the desert near Barstow, CA, and there isn’t a lot of fun things to do over there.  He says that he can’t wait to get home to where he can buy RPG materials again.  I think we’ll have to try to send him a care package.  Of course, if he can get home for Christmas, we’ll take him shopping at the Hobby stores. Thanks for your continued love and concerns, Pam S (speaking on behalf of herself, the hubby, kids and most of all, the OWNERS) PS.
