chemotherapy treatement
Question:
Our cat has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. We have decided to go ahead with chemotherapy treatement. What can we expect? regards steve NORTEL NETWORKS
Response:
Manny is going in for his first treatement on Friday tomorrow or if they can’t get the meds than on Monday. We have started him on some oral medication already. Because the cancer is in his stomach he has been having problems keeping his food down. We got some medication from the vet which is helping. We have been try different foods and treats to try and get him to eat.He eats very small amounts several times rather than all at once. — Steve NORTEL NETWORKS

Stephen, My thoughts & prayers will be with him (& you) as he begins his treatment. I’m by no means an expert on chemothearpy in cats, but I have heard that they tend to react to it nuch better than humans (i.e., they do not seem to get so sick). Keep us informed & give some extra scratches to Manny

Response:
Well Manny had his first chemo treatement on Friday. We were all pretty nervous.Other than another shaved arm he looked fine. His appetite was still pretty good on Friday night. He had some problems keeping down some food but I think it is caused by one of his oral medications. He has thrown up every second night after he takes the one type of medication. His appetite was good on Sat. & Sunday and he was in good spirits. The highlight of his weekend was he caught a mouse inside the cottage. I am sure this made his weekend as he is not allowed outside because of his treatements. His appetite on Mon. & this morning ( Tue ) has dropped. I have a phone call into the vet this morning. Thanks for all the encouragement. Steve NORTEL NETWORKS
